Our book about Sampford Peverell in WW1 was published in 2018.
This book proved to be very popular and the first print run sold out, so we had a second batch printed. ' Sampford Peverell during the First World War' paints a picture of Sampford Peverell just before the war broke out and describes the lives of many of the villagers during the war years, whether at home or serving their country elsewhere. Biographical details are provided for the 24 men who died in the war, and for the 101 men and women who participated and survived. The book covers many aspects of life in the village during the war, such as recruitment, the roles of women, state regulations, fund raising, refugees, farming, and police cases.
In 2019 it was given a 'Highly Commended' award by the Devon History Society
Price : £6, plus postage and packing for those who cannot buy it in person.
